Artist's Comments:

This picture was painted in reaction to an article that I read about the internment camp at Tule Lake. The article was meant to convince the reader that regardless of how American the Japanese immigrants might appear they were all potential threats to national security. I think we all now realize that these people were imprisoned because of racism and the paranoia that it spawns.
